Essential Oils Summer Hacks

Along with the amazing sunshine and fun outdoor activities that come with summer months, there can be some challenges as well. Essential Oils can help with a variety of summertime problems. With a few clever hacks, you can create your own natural summer protection. Check out our list of natural remedies for the summer’s biggest hassles.

Natural Bug Repellent: A recent study has found that nepetalactone essential oil (an ingredient in catnip) is 10X more effective at keeping mosquitoes away than DEET. You can find this natural bug repellent recipe here!

Spider’s Be-Gone: Peppermint oil is the perfect fix prevent pesky spiders. Simply put 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil in 2 ounces of water in places spiders tend to live and they will spin their web elsewhere.

Sunburn: A good natural remedy for an old fashion sunburn is lavender essential oil. Try a wet cloth with a few drops of lavender essential oil in addition to aloe vera gel to help soothe your skin.  

Jellyfish Stings: Similar to a sunburn, essential oils that help relieve pain and swelling also work well for jellyfish stings. Lavender, tea tree and roman chamomile are all known to help ease the sting of a jellyfish.

Minor Cuts and Scrapes: Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca, can kill bacteria in a cut or scrape to help prevent infection.

Cooling Spray: To provide relief from the hot summer months, try this cooling spray recipe that uses a combination of aloe vera gel, witch hazel and peppermint essential oil!
